Reuters descends into “journo-terrorism” with fear tactics targeting The Gateway Pundit

In recent days Jim Hoft, a founder of The Gateway Pundit news and information site, wrote in a column that he had been contacted by a Reuters reporter who gave him a heads-up of sorts: That his publication was about to be sued.

Explaining that Reuters reporter Julia Harte contacted the site last weekend insisting on a phone call, Hoft contacted her though he said he “knew this would likely not be a fair interview from the content of her email.”

Saying that Harte was “working on a hit piece” aimed at his site, which is right of center and generally out-front with most of the day’s really important breaking news on the Deep State, “I agreed to speak with her anyway,” Hoft said.

“Julia opened the interview by informing me that a former State Department employee and chief of staff of a far left House representative will be suing The Gateway Pundit on Wednesday,” he wrote, adding that the man is “upset” over an article about him on the site.

“He claims he was threatened and traumatized and wants $75,000,” according to the reporter.

“This is the latest hit on The Gateway Pundit,” Hoft wrote, alluding to the fact that last year Harvard and the Columbia Journalism Review found that his site was the 4th most influential conservative news source in the 2016 election.

“Because of this we have come under assault regularly from the Left and far Left groups like Media Matters, and we are targeted by social media giants,” Hoft wrote, adding that his site has lost a dramatic amount of traffic from “Facebook and Twitter” (as has The National Sentinel, a right-leaning news and information site where I serve as editor-in-chief).

“We have been smeared and attacked,” said Hoft. “Last month we saw a significant drop in Facebook traffic. Two weeks ago Facebook shut down our traffic stream from their social media platform without warning. And now we are the target of lawsuits.

“This is today’s American Left,” Hoft continued. “They can’t win the argument so they destroy you.” (Related: Journo-terrorism: NYT calls for online trolls to sabotage breitbart.com’s revenues.)

In reference to the Reuters reporter, Hoft said she asked him about The Gateway Pundit’s credibility, to which he replied with the site’s many news successes. He also mentioned the newswire service’s embarrassing fake news photography scandal that occurred during the Israeli-Hezbollah war in 2006. “Then I told her proudly that we have never once reported on the fake news Russian collusion scandal that has dominated the mainstream media the past 16 months,” he added.

She then asked Hoft about the Pizzagate scandal, but Hoft said his site never reported on the debunked conspiracy theory. Instead, he told her about Floyd Corkins, a Left-wing activist who shot up the Family Research Council “after reading trash” put out by the Alt-Left Southern Poverty Law Center.

But then the interaction got strange, Hoft notes.

When he asked her how she knew about the alleged pending lawsuit — against his site and other conservative sites — she replied that she learned about the charges from the plaintiff, Brennan Gilmore, and his attorneys, adding that charges would be filed Wednesday morning in a federal court in Virginia.

She then asked him how the suit would affect his income, which “seemed a bit strange.”

“When I asked her why would Mr. Gilmore be reaching out to her she did not respond,” Hoft wrote. “I think we all know the answer to that.

The media today is an offshoot of the DNC. Even Reuters,” he wrote. “They aren’t after the truth. They are after hit pieces.”

It is, as Natural News founder Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, has described, nothing short of “journo-terrorism.”
